You will serve as an EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST in the Public Works Department of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND MARIANAS.

Duties

You will compile and update inventory and certification status of all Vertical Transportation Equipment (VTE) for all Navy and Marine Corps Installations within the Facility Engineering Command (FEC) areas of responsibility (AOR). You will arrange for the performance of the inspection services by Navy or contract inspectors located near the requesting activity. You will provide Inspection services not covered by General Funds (GF) on a reimbursable basis. You will perform certifications in accordance with Unified Facility Criteria (UFC) 3-490-06, Unified Facility Guide Specification’s (UFGS’s) You will coordinate and provide technical assistance to all NAVFAC and contract VTE inspectors within the FEC AOR. You will review and evaluate activity reports to determine compliance with applicable inspection schedules, standards and codes.

  • This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States which could include remote or isolated sites. You may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

  • You will be required to sign the Statement of Understanding for Overseas Employment acknowledging receipt and understanding of the statement of living and working conditions for this location.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final SECRET security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a valid certification as ASME Qualified Elevator Inspector (QEI).
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a NAVFAC certification issued by the NAVFAC Engineering and Expeditionary Warfare Center’s (EXWC) NAVFAC VTE Manager within one year of employment.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Performing facilities maintenance, including aspects of planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance of Vertical Transportation; AND planning for and ensuring code compliance in the inspection, maintenance, repair and/or replacement of Vertical Transportation Equipment. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
