You will serve as a Shipfitter Training Leader in the Production Resources Department, Shipfitting Shop 11 of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

You will conduct formal and organized instruction of subject matter using appropriate instruction techniques. You will develop, maintain, update, revise, and execute lesson plans, training courses, instructional material references, informal student evaluations and examinations to measure student progress. You will demonstrate proper trade techniques and practices and explain the use of tools, equipment, machines, safety precautions, cleanliness controls, quality controls, and radiological controls. You will prepare the lesson plans necessary to ensure complete coverage of an assigned subject. You will arrange for training space, visual aids, technical manuals, blueprints, tools equipment, management audits, and other materials required to provide the necessary instruction. You will develop and maintain an instructor calendar to plan work assignments on an immediate and long-range basis, scheduling courses and students through appropriate scheduling system.

Requirements

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
