You will serve as a TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANT in the PASSENGER TRAVEL SECTION OF THE DISTRIBUTION MANAGEMENT OFFICE of MARINE CORPS AIR GROUND COMBAT CTR.

Duties

You will review applicant's orders to determine their entitlements and official authorization to travel. You will advise customers on transportation entitlements, baggage allowances, special conveyance restrictions, travel responsibilities, customer restrictions and the requirement for possession and proper use of Central Billing Account (CBA). You will arrange official transportation (air and ground) for the movement of individuals traveling on PCS and TAD orders or large groups. You will determine mode, routing, and costs of domestic overseas transportation to meet satisfactory travel requirements of the military mission. You will submit approved orders to Commercial Travel Office (CTO) for issuance of airline tickets, invoices/endorsements, and other travel documents. You will provide passport and visa services to applicants that conform to the requirements contained in the Department of State's Passport Agent's Manual, DoD guidelines, and the DoD Foreign Clearance Guide (FCG). You will provide applicant instructions and procedures in order to apply for a No-Fee passport and visa.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Failure to successfully meet the Secret Security Clearance eligibility requirement is grounds for removal.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: technical travel operations and the rules and procedures governing travel entitlements for the applicant and authorized family members AND the ability to effectively communicate with military and civilian personnel.
