This position is located in the Phoenix Indian Medical Center, located in Phoenix, AZ. The Supervisory Pharmacist is responsible for the day to day operations and functions of the inpatient pharmacy services. The incumbent applies broad and in-depth knowledge of inpatient pharmacy management to effectively carry out the various management aspects of the position.

Duties

Evaluates staff, assures proper program staffing, evaluates program quality, productivity, and effectiveness, and assesses the need to revise or develop additional programs to meet patient care needs. Assures that pharmaceutical care for admissions and discharges is provided in a safe and effective manner. This encompasses all inpatient clinical and distributive activity including the operation of two decentralized satellite pharmacies, the IV admixture service, and responsibilities for planning, training personnel, and evaluation of the quality of services utilizing national standards. Advises the Chief Pharmacist on inpatient pharmacist personnel matters. Schedules work and determines staffing patterns in concert with the pharmacy management team. Serves as authoritative consultant on known and potential effects of new drugs, those drugs in and investigational and/or clinical evaluation status, or other drugs which do not yet have approval for general use. Performs as a preceptor for pharmacy training programs including the Accredited Pharmacy Residency Program and the affiliated pharmacy externship rotations.

Education: A doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Licensure: Applicants must be licensed to practice pharmacy in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Medical Requirements: Applicants must be able to distinguish basic colors. In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications and Selective Placement Factor stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, GS-13: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector. Examples include: Performing the administrative, consultative, or staff advisory work for a medical facility's pharmacy program; Planning, monitoring and evaluating medication programs or regimens; Professional knowledge of theories, principles, practices and techniques of administrative and clinical pharmacy. Ability to plan, develop, implement, monitor and evaluate all aspect of health care delivery services. Ability to interpret regulations, professional practice standards, and accreditation standards and apply to pharmacy and laboratory clinical practice settings. SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR: In addition to professional pharmacy experience, your resume must document the following knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) for this specialty: The KSA requires competency as a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) to enhance quality care and patient safety for the Quality and Clinical Program pharmacy section.
