About the Position: Red River Army Depot (RRAD) is located in northeast Texas, 19 miles west of Texarkana and approximately 170 miles northeast of Dallas. Duties

Troubleshoot operating mechanisms of electrical equipment and machinery. Use proper work methods to meet electrical equipment and machinery standards. Perform maintenance of electronic production and support machinery and equipment. Perform operational checks and adjustments made on electronic production equipment and machinery. Determine the required parts and equipment for repair and maintenance of electronic production and support machinery and equipment. Utilize diagnostic programs and/or sequence methods furnished by manufacturer to determine the general nature of malfunction or fault indication. Replace faulty electronic modules and components using schematics, diagrams, and technical instructions, manual data input and computer stored procedures.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Obtain and maintain a Personnel Background Investigation (NACI).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver’s license.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a forklift operator’s license.
  • Wear and utilize required (PPE) safety and protective equipment and devices.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and maintain annual requirements thereafter.
  • You may be expected to travel (TDY) in this position up to 10% of the time for business purposes.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance for access to Depot Production Computer System.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 44 lbs. in the regular performance of duties. Heavier items are lifted with assistance of other workers or lifting devices.
  • Temporary promotion may be made or extended up to a maximum of five years and can be made permanent without further competition.
  • Temporary appointment may be extended in one year increments up to a maximum of three years but cannot be made permanent.
  • Time Limited Detail NTE may be made or extended at management discretion.

Ability to perform common Electronic Measurement Equipment Mechanic duties of selecting the proper tools, equipment, or parts that are required for repairs or maintenance. Demonstrate how to use guides such as blueprints, sketches, and technical manuals to perform repairs or maintenance of electronic production machinery and equipment; and troubleshoot to diagnose malfunctions. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element)Ability To Use Hand and Power Tools - ElectronicsIngenuity (Ability To Suggest and Apply New Methods)Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.Theory of ElectronicsTrouble shooting (Electronic Equipment)Use of Test Equipment: Electronics Physical Effort: Duties require working in cramped positions, close quarters, and standing, kneeling and stretching for prolonged periods on hard surface areas. Duties require lifting of items weighing up to 44 pounds on a frequent basis. Occasional heavier type items are lifted with assistance of lifting devise or assistance from other employees. Finger dexterity is required to manipulate test instruments and tools. Normal color vision is required. Incumbent is required to test storage/retrieval vehicles after repairs. Lifting platform is capable of elevating approximately 25 feet. Working Conditions: Duties are performed in well lighted, heated and ventilated shop areas. Exposed to the possibility of injury from falls, electric shock, cut, bruises and other industrial shop hazards. Required to wear prescribed safety and protective equipment prescribed for area in which duties are being performed.
