About the Position: Serves as a Realty Assistant for the Real Estate Office. Assists Real Estate Specialists in preparing, organizing, researching and managing realty documents such as outgrants, memorandums, surveys, and deeds in support of realty transactions. Applications will be accepted at the GS-06 grade. The target grade for the position is GS-07.

Duties

Review, interpret and summarize federal laws, regulations, and policies and analyze their effect on a federal realty program. Assist in the preparation for termination of any outgrants such as leases, easements, licenses, and permits on property proposed for disposal. Review maps and legal descriptions and develop understanding of what lands and interests are depicted and described. Compile, summarize, and analyze information from files, documents, and automated systems to provide data to customers and management. Effectively communicate (verbally and in writing) non-technical information to various individuals (public) and staff members regarding rights-of-entry permits and licenses to enter on land for survey or construction purposes. Identify the needs of non-government organizations and provide efficient and effective customer service. Respond in a professional manner to inquiries from management, supervisor, staff and public. Utilize various computer applications (i.e., Word, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Excel) in order to access, extract and track information. Update and maintain various computer programs and databases. Utilize various office automation equipment such as facsimile machines, word processors, computer terminals, typewriters, printers or copiers in order to compile information and to create various administrative documents. Prepare realty forms (i.e. outgrants, termination of outgrants, rite of way permits, bids for leasing, invitation for bids, etc). Ensure all Real Estate actions are processed and the files are documented in accordance with all appropriate laws and regulations. Proofread realty documents (i.e. deeds, purchase agreements, etc), ensuring that documents are clear and concise and comport with legal requirements.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • One (1) year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

Specialized experience for GS-07: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service, which includes: 1) effectively communicating, both verbally and in writing, information to both staff and public; 2) proficiency in computer systems (i.e. Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel or similar word processing systems) for the purpose of creating documents including letters, technical memorandums, reports, spreadsheets, and correspondence; 3) experience utilizing databases for the purpose of inputting, tracking, extracting, and monitoring data; 4) reviewing and assembling data and facts for compiling technical documents and reports; 5) developing and maintaining schedules, reports, and ticklers; 6) maintaining files and records in accordance with appropriate laws and regulations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the GS-06 grade/level position in the federal service. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: ClericalComputer SkillsCustomer ServiceManages and Organizes Information Time in Grade Requirement for GS-06: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
