Duties

The physical worksite for this position is located in Alexandria, Virginia. TELEWORK: This position is eligible for maximum telework eligible per agency and business unit discretion/policy. REMOTE WORK: Remote work will be considered on a case by case basis. Prior to the start date, you may be given the opportunity to elect to work from the Alexandria headquarters, from an alternate/home location within the United States (defined as the 50 United States, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico), or a combination of headquarters and alternate location. Your salary/pay will be based on your selected worksite geographical location. You are excited to serve as a Marketing and Communication Specialist for OIO to develop, coordinate, implement, promote, and support outreach/communication/marketing projects and activities for various programs. You are ready to develop annual and long-range plans to recognize and/or recommend revision to OIO's strategic goals, in alignment with USPTO goals for increased intellectual property and USPTO resources awareness and inclusion in innovation ecosphere in key market segments. You will be committed to leading the development of directives and the design, development, documentation, and implementation of various reporting systems. You look forward to coordinating with the USPTO Regional Offices to identify opportunities where collaborative efforts may enhance widespread effectiveness of public information dissemination to advance USPTO IP education mission objectives.

Qualifications

You must meet the United States Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) qualification requirements (including specialized experience and/or educational requirements) for the advertised position. Specialized Experienceis experience that has equipped applicants with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the federal service. For this position, the next lower grade level is a GS-11. Specialized experience for this position includes: Implementing communication and marketing strategies for an agency or company Consolidating marketing and communications statistics into a meaningful form that is easily understood by the internal and external stakeholders Drafting content to include in reports, press release, and/or talking points for management Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
