This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: In this position, you will serve as the Maintenance Crew Supervisor with the responsibility for the maintenance and repair of all facilities, grounds, and recreation areas, excluding the powerhouse.

Duties

Planning long range, monthly, and weekly work schedules and sequence of operations for subordinates. Establishing deadlines and priorities on the basis of general work schedules and coordination with other elements of the Project. Determining work priorities, assign work tasks, and evaluate material and manpower needs to commit to each task. Explaining work requirements, methods, and procedures and instruct subordinates in new procedures and provides or obtains assistance when problems arise. Managing the project's vehicle fleet including the maintenance program, record keeping, and maintenance reports. Supervising the utilities system operations (water and waste water), irrigation systems, and maintenance of project roads, buildings, and grounds.

  • You are required to complete a pre-physical and annual exam.
  • You are required to lift up to and over 50 lbs.

Qualifications

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) GENERAL MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR ~ without more than normal supervision you must be able to supervise journeyman level personnel. You must be able to: Schedule work assignments on a daily, weekly, monthly and yearly basis. Develop employees through active mentoring, to establish clear roles and responsibilities for all personnel through written and verbal communication. Administer personnel actions such as counseling, performance appraisals, training, awards, travel, etc. Address performance and conduct issues. Keep accurate records of subordinates work assignments, work hours, and leave taken to ensure that there are no adverse effects on section. Forecast future staffing needs and clearly communicate these needs to the chain of command. Set realistic deadlines and work sequences for individual workers based on their skills and abilities. Adjust procedures and sequence of operations as necessary to accomplish work effectively, economically, and safely - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work requires moderately arduous physical effort, including climbing onto and off of heavy equipment and lifting and carrying attachments, parts and supplies up to 50 lbs routinely and occasionally up to 100 lbs. Work requires considerable walking, standing, stooping, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, kneeling, climbing, working on ladders or platforms, and traversing rough terrain. Many activities can cause exertion of the lower back; good lower back physical condition must be maintained. Work requires visual acuity, color and depth perception. Must have good hand-foot-eye coordination. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside and outside, with exposure to bad weather and the usual climate extremes. There are the common dangers inherent to power tool operations such as: cuts and bruises, electrical shock and burns, and the danger of working around mobile equipment. There is danger of injury or death from operating equipment on steep slopes if vehicle overturns, or slipping on wet surfaces or falling into swift water. Subject to noise, dust, dirt, paint fumes, solvents, pesticides, herbicides, raw sewage and obnoxious smells, insect bites and bee stings, etc. Must wear appropriate safety and protective gear such as hard hat, safety goggles, earplugs, life jacket, respirator etc. as required.
