About the Position: The Seattle and Honolulu MEPS are part of a network of 65 MEPS located nationwide and in Puerto Rico. The mission of USMEPCOM and the Seattle and Honolulu MEPS are to process individuals for enlistment or induction into the armed services, based on DoD-approved peacetime and mobilization standards.
The Honolulu MEPS resides on Naval Station Pearl Harbor.
The Seattle MEPS resides in downtown Seattle's Federal Building South.
Duties
Use a web-based system to administer automated tests
Perform manual searches of high school Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) or similar aptitude test scores.
Coordinate with appropriate offices to maintain/retrieve applicant records.
Perform quality control of examination procedures/materials to ensure proper guidelines are followed.
Follow strict mailing/shipping procedures to ensure accountability of controlled test materials.
Ensure test conditions in a test room are conducive to the best possible test performance for the applicants.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Also unique to the Honolulu MEPS are deployments to Guam and the Republic of the Marshall Islands to administer ASVAB tests and to participate as a member of the MEPS processing team.
- Must be in possession of or have ability to obtain a drivers license.
- Frequent local travel and occasional TDY may be required (may require hotel stay for multiple nights to meet mission requirements).
- Will be required to conduct test sessions at remote sites, to include administration of high school tests at inner city, rural, and/or at risk schools with large populations (greater than 100 students).
- Occasional evening and weekend work is required (if the MEPS conducts night testing, this work will entail night shift work when the Test Clerk is the only employee in the building.)
- Evenings (if applicable): 1130-2000, Saturdays: 0530-1430, Sundays (if applicable): 1400-2000, Morning Opening Shift: 0530–1430
- Cross-trains in other functions of the MEPS (such as processing) and performs these functions as required.
- Handles accountable test material.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes;
1) Maintaining and/or distributing testing materials;
2) Assist in implementing policies and/or procedures for administering examinations;
3) Performing data entry of results and/or information into a system;
and
4) Assist in performing quality control of examination and/or applicant information.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
Time in Grade Requirement: Candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to GS-05 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest non-temporary competitive appointment.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-04).
