This National Guard position is for a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC, Position Description Number D1194000 and is part of the NJ FMS-1, National Guard. The purpose of this position is to perform maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, inspection, and/or overhaul of a variety of combat, tactical, commercial, and special purpose vehicles and equipment.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, preventative maintenance, use of common tools, and equipment. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 18 months of specialized experience or training in the following areas: Diagnosing, repairing, and modifying complex vehicles Knowledge of diagnostic equipment Solving complex maintenance and repair problems Evaluating work performed on vehicles, equipment, and systems
