These positions are located at the Zuni Comprehensive Community Health Center located in Zuni, NM. The primary purpose of these positions is to perform protective services work in guarding federally owned or leased buildings and property, safeguarding occupants, visitors and patients in and around the service unit. Work is performed on a rotating shift basis; days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays.
Duties
NOTE: FOR APPLICANTS APPLYING UNDER THE PROVISION OF THE EXCEPTED SERVICE EXAMINING PLAN (ESEP), CONSIDERATION FOR THIS POSITION IS LIMITED TO APPLICANTS ENTITLED TO VETERANS PREFERENCE. IF THERE ARE LESS THAN THREE (3) VETERANS AVAILABLE, NON-PREFERENCE ELIGIBLES MAY BE CONSIDERED.
DUTIES:
Patrols all areas of the hospital grounds and living quarters compound. Incumbent patrols to check locks, alarms, fences, gates, and other barriers.
Provides for order and security of hospital premises by observing flow of incoming visitors, emplyoees, patients, etc. Admonishes unruly visitors, and if necessary, calls law enforcement officials for assistance.
Controls personnel access by monitoring the identification of individuals entering controlled areas.
Monitors alarm systems, closed circuit television systems and telephone and radio networks.
Protects the scene of an incident and relinquishes control to police or other law enforcement officials, as appropriate.
Relays messages, maintains logs, and dispatches personnel and equipment to meet emergency situations.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
GS-04: Candidates must have had six (6) months of General Experience and six (6) months of Specialized Experience OR two (2) years of education above the high school level.
General Experience: Experience such as administrative, technical, clerical, military, or other work that involved following written procedures, rules, or regulations in contacts with coworkers, supervisors, or members of the public to provide a service, respond to inquiries, or obtain information.
Specialized Experience: Experience such as work with a Federal, State, municipal, local, or private protective organization that involved the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; or maintaining order and protecting life. Such experience must have provided a knowledge of protective systems and techniques. Acceptable experience includes service in the Armed Services or Coast Guard that involved the performance of guard duties on a regular or intermittent basis. Experience as a psychiatric nursing assistant or a similar position safeguarding patients is qualifying.

Education
Two (2) years of education above the high school level.
