Employment Type: Full-time
The Central Texas VA Healthcare System is seeking a highly qualified Registered Nurse for the Simulation Program Coordinator position responsible for the coordination and management of the simulation education program.

Duties

The Simulation Program Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and management of the simulation education program within the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System (CTVHCS). The incumbent leads collaborations in the planning, development, coordination, implementation, evaluation, and documentation of highly complex and facility-focused systems processing simulation education events using principles of adult learning. He/she conducts programmatic evaluation for education initiatives using technology-based training and assessment. The incumbent serves as a consultant on, interacts with, and is involved in the use of technology ranging from low fidelity standardized patient simulations, anatomic models, and task trainers to very high-fidelity human simulations, computer-based simulation programs, and virtual reality simulation programs. He/she serves as a consultant or designer during the conceptualization, development, evaluation, and refinement of new courses, scenarios, and initiatives for simulation-based education of clinicians and health professionals. The incumbent collaborates in identifying training opportunities through needs assessments from all clinical and non-clinical education and develops and coordinates simulation training using Education Service resources. He/she analyzes data and results from simulation events and summarizes findings and provides recommendations on simulation standards of work that guide the development and execution of simulation across CTVHCS. The incumbent conducts, collaborates on, and records research in simulation training and equipment. He/she develops, plans, implements, and evaluates simulation-based interventions as responses to near misses, incidents, or other organizational vulnerabilities as an accreditation readiness mitigation strategy and alignment with High Reliability Organization (HRO) initiatives. The incumbent collaborates with leadership regarding the operations of the Center for Innovation and Learning by sharing knowledge of innovative technology, simulation/training equipment acquisition, research opportunities, academic and community simulation partnerships, and innovative simulation-based techniques. CTVHCS is in the process of making a cultural change, shifting from a disease-focused approach to a health and wellbeing approach, in order to implement the Whole Health System of Care. This is a VA-wide initiative to provide a comprehensive and systematic approach to improve healthcare delivery at all stages of Veteran care. This entails moving from an episodic, "siloed" approach to an interdisciplinary, holistic approach, emphasizing self-care in the larger context of well-being. All staff in this facility will be part of this process, shifting the focus from the question, "What's the matter with you?" to the question, "What matters to you, and how can we help you live your best life?" This strategy also involves integrating a full range of conventional approaches with Complementary and Integrative Health (CIH) approaches in order to optimize lifelong health and well-being, as defined by the Veteran, rather than narrowly focusing on disease management. VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm; 7:30 am to 4:00 pm or 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Telework: Available Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
