Defense Finance and Accounting Services (DFAS) mission is to lead the DoD in finance and accounting by ensuring the delivery of efficient, exceptional quality pay and financial information.
Duties
Examine incoming paperwork to ensure information required for data entry is present.
Input various financial/pay data into a system in order to process transactions.
Adjust records based on a standardized set of rules, regulations, laws or procedures.
Review output files, computerized listings or other records to ensure accuracy.
Use various office automation software products such as word processing, spreadsheets, and email to disseminate information.
Use rules and regulations to answer inquiries in person, in writing, or by telephone to internal and external customers concerning all pay-related issues and matters.
Perform arithmetic to verify calculations using basic mathematical formulas.
Explain technical procedures, regulations, laws or rules to customers in lay terms to facilitate understanding of options and processes.

Qualifications
This announcement will be used to fill positions with an entry grade of GS-04, or GS-05 with a target grade of GS-05. The minimum salary for grade GS-4 is $36,945 the maximum salary is $48,024.00. The minimum salary for grade GS-05 is $41,335.00, the maximum salary is $53,732.00.
GS-04: One year of general experience, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
General experience is defined as progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.
GS-05: One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade GS-04 within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized experience is defined as: Performing duties that support the processing of financial/accounting transactions using standardized procedures that may include reviewing financial/accounting systems information/documents for accuracy/completeness, inputting financial/accounting information into automated systems, or correcting invalid financial/accounting transactions.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer workdone through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
GS-4: SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCESuccessfully completed Two years of education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation, or the equivalent, is a prerequisite may be substituted to meet the general experience requirement. GS-5: SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCEFour years of successfully completed education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation, or the equivalent, is a prerequisite may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. Combining Education and ExperienceApplicant may have a percentage of the education and experience which when combined totals 100% of the necessary education and experience to qualify for this position.
