The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Club Operations Manager in the successful Operation of the Collocated Club; specifically in the area of kitchen and beverage operations.
Duties
Assist the Club Operations Manager in the economic, efficient operation of club facilities and activities.
Plans, organizes and supervises the details of recurring and no recurring activities and special events, such as in the preparation of meals for gourmet dinners and special military functions.
Prepares food and beverage budgets for incorporation into the facility budget.
Supervises, directs, trains and reviews the work of a non-appropriated work force consisting of approximately six cooks, eight food service workers and 10 waiters.
Manages real property resources and provides suggestions on renovations, and improvements including both major and minor construction.

- "This is a Supervisory Position." A 1-year supervisory probationary period is required if applicant selected has not previously met this requirement.
- Must complete all required training including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid.
- Most possess or obtain a valid motor vehicle Operator's license.
- Must be able to obtain a food handlers card.
- May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty.
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Administrative and Management Positions for Food Services Series, 1667.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-05, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of the operation of food and beverage programs to successfully operate club facilities and activities. Knowledge of food and beverage preparation and presentation to ensure quality meals are provided to the membership and their visitors. Knowledge of the procedures to procure food and beverage items to ensure adequate supplies of inventory.

EDUCATION: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position or a Bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement. In order to be creditable under this provision, education must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-05 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of the operation of food and beverage programs.
Knowledge of food and beverage preparation and presentation.
Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
Knowledge of the procedures to procure food and beverage items.
Skill to effectively manage financial and physical resources.
Ability to motivate train and work effectively with subordinates.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
