About the Position: This is a military technician position with the 99th Readiness Division, Equipment Concentration Site (ECS) 93 located in Fort Eustis, Virginia. Description of the working environment: Work is performed in a maintenance shop setting. This position requires an active membership as a Soldier in the Army Reserve before a start date can be set. Duties

Repair small weapons by replacing obsolete parts and/or assemblies. Analyze unit deficiencies to determine required organizational training. Use hand tools to make repairs and adjustments List repairs on appropriate forms to indicate needed repairs Performs two level Preventative Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) to include periodic gauging

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires membership in the US Army Reserves (USAR)
  • This position requires a valid State Driver's license.
  • This position is subject to the Lautenberg Amendment/ Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an SMALL ARMS REPAIRER without more than normal supervision. To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following :initial inspection of small weapons to determine repairs needed ;disassemble, repair and replace components on small arms; final inspection to ensure repairs were completed correctly; use of hand tools, precision gauges and measuring instruments; perform weapon operational tests; provide training; and prepare reports .work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The position Without More Than Normal SupervisionAbility to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading)Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)Trouble ShootingUse of Measuring Instruments Physical Effort Required: Frequently lifts sub assemblies or small weapons weighing 15 to 20 pounds. Often carries large assemblies or weapons weighing up to 50 pounds. Work requires walking, bending, and long periods of standing. Working Conditions: Works in shop buildings that are well lighted, heated, and ventilated. Stands on concrete floors or other hard surfaces for long periods. Exposed to oil, grease, and solvents when cleaning and lubricating weapons. Exposed to the possibility of minor cuts and bruises from tools and sharp edges of metal. Subject to noise when test firing weapons
