This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: This position is in the Department of Behavioral Health, Family Advocacy Program located at Fort Carson, CO. This position is part of an intensive and dynamic behavioral health program.
Duties
Manage a case load of child/spouse abuse cases, ensuring proper assessment and disposition.
Conduct initial interviews and review records of abuse patients to obtain a social and psychological history.
Develop a case assessment to identify family problems.
Record information and prepare a treatment plan for each case.
Provide limited short term supportive counseling and referrals.
Maintain accurate case records.
Maintain liaison with others involved in the evaluation and treatment, such as Child Protective Services, medical staff, commanders, and civilian agencies.
Co-facilitate support, education, and treatment groups.
Requirements
- You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
- One year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires a Childcare National Agency Check with Inquiries (CNACI) Background.
- This position is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- All Health Care Providers must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) training and certification that is sponsored or endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.
- This position is an Inclement Weather Essential position. The incumbent will make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
- Applicants must be able to fulfill Prime Source Verification (PSV) requirements.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing intake interviews and/or assessments for cases of domestic abuse; maintaining case files; and co-facilitating psycho-educational or support groups. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: One and a half years of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Child and Family Welfare, Counseling, Family andCommunity Services, Behavioral Science, Human Development, Sociology, and Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages.
