You will serve as a ASSISTANT IG FOR RISK MANAGEMENT, INTERNAL CONTROL & AUDIT in the OFFICE OF COMMAND INSPECTOR GENERAL, CODE 100012 of NAVAL RESEARCH LABORATORY.
Duties
You will determine the scope and depth of the audit based on the preliminary findings and make adjustments to the scope and depth as necessary.
You will discuss review findings and proposed recommendations with the IG at the conclusion of review.
You will review internal and external directives and laws, determine the intent and interpretation of the policy and guidance required for the effective and efficient review of the various management systems and controls.
You will assist in providing liaison and coordination for audits, surveys, and inspections.
You will maintain a record of audits, surveys, and inspections scheduled, in progress, and completed.
You will assist in providing training to managers giving them an overview of their program responsibilities and specific instruction of how to conduct Risk Assessments and ICRs.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This position is considered Key/Non-Combat Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support of the expeditionary requirements in other than combat or combat support situations.
- MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level or pay band (GS 5-10 or NO-02) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector in order to perform the duties of an Assistant IG for Risk Management, Internal Control & Audit. Specialized experience must include some or all of the following: 1) Reviewing techniques and procedures associated with the concept of management; 2) Interpreting and applying regulations, policies, and procedures such as the NAVSUP Manual, COMPGEN decisions, and SECNAV instructions for effective and efficient review of management systems and controls; 3) Gathering and analyzing data in order to make sound recommendations; and 4) Using fact finding, analytical and problem solving methods and techniques to evaluate information concerning the management systems and controls.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.M., if related
