Duties

Analyzes functional and technical requirements of proposed or existing IT systems to determine avenues of development or modification necessary to meet mission objectives. Participates in systems requirement reviews and coordinates with customer/functional representatives and other technical personnel to clarify requirements. Identifies how system modifications or new systems or subsystems affect current systems; prepares cost analysis; establishes target completion dates; and prioritizes proposed system changes or developments. Participates in test readiness reviews and briefs technical and non-technical staff. Prepares and executes tests for system or subsystem software validation. Reviews test results for effectiveness in meeting specifications and takes necessary corrective actions based on testing results. Performs staff assignments related to IT project planning, monitoring, and/or coordinating systems life cycle functions.

Specialized experience is defined as using COBOL and Job Control Language (JCL) to develop and maintain application software; utilizing and customizing financial systems software; providing advice and counsel to functional analysts on the capabilities of a specific system and/or application; and using hierarchical database software. AND IT-related experience demonstrating Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving as described in the vacancy announcement.
