This position is located in the Safety and Technical Training Service Unit, Safety Directorate, Safety Programs Group. This Group focuses on improving operational safety through voluntary employee safety reporting programs for air traffic controllers, technicians, federal contract towers, and engineers. The Group's purpose is to foster a collaborative safety environment between management and labor.

Duties

This position is a senior Airway Transportation System Specialist (ATSS) responsible for applying expert technical knowledge of air transportation systems, operations, and procedures to provide national level expertise and technical support to the Technical Operations Aviation Safety Action Program (T-SAP). Uses advanced knowledge of the National Airspace System (NAS) to serve as a senior project manager and Management Representative for large, challenging work activities on the T-SAP Event Review Committees (ERC). This work is part of a positive safety culture, as well as critical to and directly impacts the safe and efficient operation of the NAS.

Qualifications

Candidates must have one year (52 weeks) of SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (FV-I or FG/GS-13) that is typically related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been at least equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is defined as: Experience installing and maintaining technical operations equipment.Experience monitoring records disposition and updates in the database.You should include relevant examples of the specialized experience in your work history.
