Duties

Major Duties: This is not an all-inclusive list A ELECTRONICS MECHANIC, WG-2604-10, (1) Works either as a team member or individually under the direction of a higher-grade employee. Performs routine and repetitive electronics work involved in the installation, modification, overhaul, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic equipment ranging from equipment of limited complexity such as subassemblies, printed circuit cards, and chassis to complete electronics systems. Independently operates automatic test equipment, which has been programmed to a type of chassis or printed circuit board to locate and repair defective parts. (2) Follows detailed schematics, layout diagrams, and work instructions to locate and repair malfunctions in defective circuit cards or chassis, such as audio frequency (AF) or radio frequency (RF) amplifiers, power supplies, oscillators or other assemblies which are of limited design and functional complexity. Uses standard handtools and a variety of test equipment such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, signal/pulse generators, oscilloscopes, frequency counters, power supplies and a variety of test sets to locate and diagnose defective parts. (3) Assists higher-grade workers in the more complex repair, modification, installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of complete systems, subsystems, and components as well as performing simple tasks such as removing and replacing defective parts and assemblies identified by higher-grade workers. (4) Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations such as Operational Readiness Evaluations (ORE), Command Logistics Readiness Inspections (CLRT-X), and Aviation Resource Management Surveys. May be required to perform additional duties such as structural fire fighting, aircraft handling, heavy equipment operation, and maintenance of facilities and equipment or serve as a member of a team to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies. Complies with safety, fire, security and housekeeping regulations. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MILITARY GRADES: PV1 - WO1 Failure to obtain a compatible MOS may result in termination of employment. GENERAL AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS: Experience or training which demonstrates the applicants knowledge of electrical or electronic theory, knowledge of common testing procedures, skill in the use of hand tools of the electronics trade, and skill in reading schematics. WG-07/08 - Experience or training in utilizing principles, basic functions and application of theory of electronic systems or equipment. Experience in diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic equipment or systems. Experience in using hand tools, power tools and gauges to make intricate repairs. Experience in using diagnostic and testing equipment. Experience which demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications. WG-09 and above - Experience or training in utilizing principles, basic functions and application of theory of electronic systems or equipment. Experience in diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic equipment or systems. Experience in making mechanical repairs that required the use of precision measuring and calibrating equipment. Experience in using complex test equipment such as deviation meters, complex special test panels, etc. Experience which demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications.
