This position located in Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park, in the Resources Division. This announcement is being advertised concurrently under number AK-1537-KLGO-24-12301829-ST which is open to all US Citizens and CTAP/ICTAP in the local commuting area. Duties

As a Biologist, you will perform the following duties: Designs, develops, tests, and implements statistically valid data collection protocols to identify, evaluate, and monitor wildlife populations using appropriate advanced technology and methods of data analysis and modeling to draw valid inferences about population characteristics including size, composition, and spatial and temporal distributions. Prepares management and scientific reports and peer-reviewed publications regarding results of inventory, monitoring, research, protection, and mitigation activities. Based on results of inventories, monitoring, and in-depth research, develops and conducts scientifically credible protection, mitigation, and restoration projects needed to restore and/or maintain the integrity of native wildlife populations, critical habitat, and physical resources. Identifies research needs, submits funding proposals for priority research needs, develops and fosters research collaborations, prepares requests for proposals or statements of work, and provides oversight for research projects. Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will work from approximately May to October, and you will be in a non-pay status for the remainder of the year. Qualifications

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-02/20/2024-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience. To qualify for this position at the GS-11 grade level, you must meet the following qualification requirements by close of the announcement: Basic Requirement: Completed a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included a major field of study in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. You must include transcripts. OR Combination of education and experience that included courses equivalent to a major in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or a discipline closely related to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work. You must include transcripts and list the number of hours worked per week in your resume. -AND- Specialized Experience: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience include activities such as: Professional work involving one or more aspects of biology including designing and implementing research and/or monitoring projects for the conservation and management of wildlife; conducting field studies on wildlife; gathering scientific data; performing data analyses; preparing reports, publications for peer-review, and presentations; and making recommendations to management. You must list number of hours worked per week in your resume. OR Education: Successfully completed three years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. Degree Ph.D. or equivalent Doctoral degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to this position. You must include transcripts. OR Combination of education and experience. To calculate your percentage of qualifying graduate education, divide your number of semester hours in excess of 36 semester hours by 18 or the number your school uses to represent one year of full time graduate academic study. To calculate your percentage of experience, divide your months of qualifying specialized experience by 12. Add the two percentages. They must equal 100% to qualify using this option. You must include transcripts and list the number of hours worked per week in your resume. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.

If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
