This position is located in Service Center Operations Directorate, Vermont Service Center. As an Supervisory Immigration Services Officer, you will direct the adjudications and naturalization programs and related functions, independently manage all administrative immigration programs, activities and operations within a USCIS Service Center, and represent the Service Center in conferences and meetings concerning program functions.

Duties

Independently manage all administrative immigration programs, activities and operations within a Section. Direct the Office's adjudications program and related functions in accordance with broad program objectives and policies established by USCIS Headquarters and higher level supervisors. Analyzes issues related to program goals and establishes long-range work plans necessary to accomplish objective/goals. Monitors and develops methodologies to evaluate the effectiveness of operations. Makes recommendations that often serve as the basis for new systems, legislation, regulations or programs or which serve as the basis for effective modifications or updates to existing systems or processes.

Qualifications

The qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 02/15/2024. Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The Time-in-Grade requirement must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 02/15/2024. GS-14: You qualify at the GS-14 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties: Providing technical and administrative direction to a staff of Immigration Services Officers and support positions whose work includes customer service and the adjudication of applications and petitions. Managing a team dealing with complex and highly technical adjudication processes. Analyzing and implementing solutions regarding operational and policy issues impacting program goals and objectives Establishing short-term and long-term work plans to determine the necessary actions to meet the mission goals; Resolving employee matters involving difficult situations. Education

EDUCATIONAL SUBSTITUTION: There is no educational substitution at this grade level.

Training: If you have not already done so, you will be required to attend and complete a USCIS Officer training course. This is typically provided through a blended approach of virtual instruction followed by in-residence instruction at a training venue. Training must be successfully completed according to the standards of the agency. Failure to do so will be grounds for mandatory removal from the position. Such failure will result in either reassignment to a different position, demotion or separation by appropriate procedures.
