The incumbent performs all the regular and ad hoc duties of the Coach in his/her absence. This includes ensuring the continuity of team supervision. This position is the assistant supervisor of one of the teams located within the Veterans Service Center (VSC) or Pension Management Center (PMC), Benefit Eligibility Support Team (BEST) Division, Integrated Disability Evaluation System (IDES).
Duties
The Supervisory Veterans Service Representative (Assistant Coach) is an integral part of VSC, IDES, BEST, or PMC supervisory team.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Performs the duties of the Team Coach in his/her absence and shares in those responsibilities on a daily basis.
Ensures that the team's quality and timeliness of service meets performance indicator goals.
Responsible for the cost-effective use of resources to accomplish the team's assigned outcomes.
Gathers, interprets, and recommends appropriate action based on a wide range of data addressing service concerns.
Analyzes and interprets laws, rules and regulations and their effect on the establishment of new policies, procedures, and/or methods of operation.
Monitors leave balances, approves/denies leave, and certifies timecards.
Runs production and workload reports.
Communicates with senior management.
Work Schedule: Full time, Monday through Friday

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 02/15/2024.
Time-in-Grade Requirements: Under competitive merit promotion procedures, any individual who is currently holding, or who has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under a non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet "time-in-grade" requirements (have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade of the grade for which you are applying). Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to current employees applying for a Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. NOTE: All current or former Federal employees must provide a copy of their SF-50 (you may need to submit more than one), "Notice of Personnel Action" that indicates proof of status and time-in-grade eligibility. The SF-50 must include your position, title, series, grade, step, tenure (1 or 2), and type of service (Competitive or Excepted).
Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Minimum Qualification requirements as noted below.
Specialized Experience: To qualify for the Supervisory Veterans Service Representative (Assistant Coach), GS-0996-12 position you must have at least one year of full-time specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the public or private sectors providing quality assurance or auditor functions related to claims processing and benefit determination; adjudicating and authorizing of compensation, pension, and claims; providing determination to reconsider claims appeal cases; and preparing presentations to reconsider claims appeal cases.
There is no educational substitution for the GS-12 level.
