Position will provide the expertise to assure a comprehensive grounds care program for the Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility as well as the common use areas and clinic sites throughout the Service Unit. This position is with the Facility Management Department located in Chinle, Arizona, Chinle Service Unit.

Duties

Maintains, operates, and performs preventive maintenance and minor repairs to all grounds care equipment within the Service Unit. The work will be performed on relatively level or rolling terrain in such areas as open fields, windbreaks, lawns and along roadways. Provides seeding, watering, fertilizing and mowing the grounds around the hospital, the outlying clinics and the common use areas in the housing areas. Assures the perimeter fencing is in good repair and that the fences do not become 'drifted-in' by blows and and tumbleweeds. Assures drainage ditches are free of debris and drain properly and that ditch banks are properly graded and weed free to facilitate drainage. Assures the overall yards, grounds, fences and drainage systems are in good repair and maintenance, and have a pleasing appearance. In the wintertime the incumbent will prune trees and hedges, clean parking lots and remove snow accumulations around hospital and clinic entrances to assure patients access to the facility.

Experience and training that included following simple oral or written instructions and/or work orders, performing Tractor Operator duties, including operation and maintenance of equipment (lawn mowers, utility tractor, skid steers, truck, etc.), use and maintain tools and performing grounds keeping duties, read and understand work orders in order to complete assigned work. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
