This position is located on the National Forests in Mississippi at the Delta Ranger District in Rolling Fork, MS.

Duties
Responsibilities are at the full performance level (GS-11)
Change or modify special use permit to ensure compliance by permittees with special uses.
Administer recreation program including operation and maintenance of developed sites, dispersed recreation, trails, wilderness, cultural resources, and interpretive services to protect and enhance resources for visitor use.
Plan and direct the policing, fee administration, maintenance, opening and closing, signing, and protection of public use sites for visitors.
Communicate with local officials and partners to protect the natural resources
Communicate guidelines and performance requirements to employees to establish standards and training needs.
Use established production or quality standards to plan the work to be accomplished.
Promote and support a positive work environment to create a climate of mutual respect and integrity.
Demonstrate a commitment to fostering and promoting an equitable, inclusive, and safe work environment.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.

0401 Series
Degree: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included a major field of study in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a major field of study that included 24 semester hours in course work in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. Related course work generally refers to courses that may be accepted as part of the program major.
OR
Combination of education and experience that included 24 semester hours in course work in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, AND experience sufficient to demonstrate that I possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform work in the occupation that is comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of a full 4-year course of study with a major in the appropriate field needed to perform the work of the occupation.

Specialized Experience Requirement:
GS-09; One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 grade level OR a Master's degree orequivalent graduate degree or two (2) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related.ORa combination of specialized experience and education (only graduate education in excess of 18 semester hours may be used to qualify applicants for this grade level). The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.
Examples of specialized experience may include: Assisted in recommending potential sites for additional recreation use and planning development. Assisted in designing, planning, and monitoring new construction of wilderness trails, parking areas, trailhead facilities, campgrounds, picnic areas, parking areas and access roads; Processed special use applications including on-the-ground investigations of site suitability, and preparation of associated environmental assessment reports; Provided program input into the natural resources planning process; Assisted with developing an annual program of work; Created recreation and non-recreation special use permits in a database; Assisted in natural resource management activities; participated in environmental assessments and drafting segments of environmental impact statements.
GS-11; One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 grade level OR 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree; OR Ph.D.; OR Equivalent doctoral degree (coursework directly related to position being filled); OR An appropriate combination of specialized experience and graduate-level education (beyond what is required for a master's degree, i.e., more than 36 semester hours leading to a Ph.D.).
Examples of specialized experience may include: Participated in developing plans to overcome significant resource problems related to forest management, range management, fisheries and wildlife habitat restoration; Assisted in planning, administering, and evaluating various natural resources and environmental protection programs to ensure proper consideration is given to resource conservation and protection measures; Participated in developing the unit program of work for all aspects or portions of the unit planning program, advising, coordinating, or reviewing the annual operating plans and budgets; Assisted in reviewing or developing standard plans for well-established programs or projects or recommending short-range plans for a component of a forestry resource management program.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
