The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Lead Production Scheduler providing support for all scheduling projects and studies related to the maintenance/overhaul of the jet engines, related components and accessories.

Duties

Serves as Team Leader. Implements and controls production schedules. Ensures employees perform proper assignments. Assists in determining all resources required to perform production workload. Complies with safety and health requirements.

Qualifications

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. The specialized experience of scheduling projects and studies related to the maintenance/overhaul/manufacturing of complex systems/system end items, related components, assets, and accessories. Assessing daily shop operations, schedules work, and implements corrective actions to minimize production delays. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Ability to recognize and analyze problems, conduct research, summarize results, and make appropriate recommendations. Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work to meet challenges deadlines and to take corrective action when necessary to meet the workload requirements. Ability to interpret technical data, standards and instructions and to relate them properly to the particular engine projects assigned in preparing production plans and schedules and in maintain effective follow-up. Ability to communication effectively, both orally and in writing. Knowledge of EEO, labor management and quality tenants, principles, programs and techniques. Knowledge, skill and experience to prevent or alleviate unanticipated production/processing delays, scheduling conflicts, and lack of required material/manpower shortages. Ability to correlate and analyze a variety of production data. Knowledge of principles and practices of team building, developing interpersonal relationships, maintain good working relationships, and leading members as a cooperative team. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed primary in a administrative office setting but may be required to visit productions areas, which involve moderate risks, discomfort and require safety precautions. Visits to industrial areas take place in all weather conditions. The employee may be exposed to strong odors, fumes from paint, fuels or chemicals used in the work process. Use of safety equipment is an occupational requirement. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
