The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period is May-September, but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: May 2024
Duties
Responsible for the maintenance, repair, alteration, and construction of exterior and interior surfaces and structures built of brick, stone, and block. Repairs and maintains historic masonry on buildings, parapets, and boundary fences, chimneys, fireplaces, manholes, and boilers. Must be able to match existing historic surfaces. Prepares surfaces for painting by sanding, buffing, and cleaning; cleans brushes and other painting equipment; moves ladders, scaffolding, and/or drop cloths; and carries paint, brushes, and equipment. Applies one or more sealing compounds occasionally. Mut be able to mix paint to match existing historic colors. Must be able to cut in around windows, doors, corners, lighting, etc.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:
Ability to do the work of a Mason WG-3603-10 without more than normal supervision. (SCREEN OUT)
Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)
Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. (Includes blueprint reading)
Measurement and Layout
Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment.
