The position is within the FAA, Air Traffic Organization, Technical Operations, which reports to the District System Support Centers. The work involves the application of the following trade practice areas: carpentry, electrical, mechanical, Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), and/or plumbing trades.
Duties
Incumbent works alone or in a group performing Mechanical, Electrical, Carpentry, Plumbing, Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Cable Installation/Replacement, Welding/Metal Fabrication, Painting, and concrete work.
Incumbent accomplishes major and minor construction, replacement, or repairs associated with all types of building facilities, and structures, both indoors and outdoors. These activities are inclusive of roof, siding, doors, windows, fences, framing, equipment platforms, and accomplishment of "finish" work. Works from blueprints, work orders, plans, sketches and other written specifications and/or oral instructions. Maintains, repairs and uses a variety of hand tools, testing equipment and power equipment characteristic of the various trades. Uses ammeter, voltmeter, test lamp, electric drill press, and various electrician hand tools. Incumbent accomplishes routine and emergency repair, evaluation, and installation of buildings and structures, facilities, and grounds maintenance.

- US Citizenship is required.
- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.

- Designated or Random Drug Testing required.
- Valid Drivers License Required
- Successful completion of a moderate risk (POS SEN 5) security upgrade/refresh may be required.

Qualifications
To qualify, no specific length of experience or training is required; however, you must show evidence of experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality that demonstrates your ability to perform the duties of a journey person Maintenance Mechanic in your resume. This position requires knowledge, skill and abilities in various trades of work in mechanical, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, welding/metal fabrication, painting and general knowledge of electronics and equipment.
