This position is located in Loggerheads Pub, the lounge within The Beacon, Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department, Naval Station Mavport, Florida. Incumbent performs journeyman level bartending duties along with supervisory duties to ensure the smooth operation of Loggerheads.

Duties

Responsible for the operation of the bar located within The Beacon. Required to perform full bartending duties, including operating POS cash register and cash handling in accordance with MWR policies. Maintains inventory of all bar stock and equipment. Ensures adequate supplies are maintained and items are rotated on a first-in, first-out basis. Prepares orders to replenish stock with special attention to parties and planned special events. Recommends stock changes based on patron consumption and requests. Ensure paperwork is properly controlled and completed for the bar orders and transfers for all hospitality outlets. Conducts monthly inventory at Loggerheads Pub and may assist or schedule inventories at other hospitality outlets. Inputs invoices, credit card purchase orders, monthly inventory, and good movement into the SAP system. Recommends to management promotional events and new or different methods to improve services. Responsible for the cleanliness and safety of the bar, bar equipment and bar area in accordance with health, safety and sanitation regulations. Performs regular journeyman level bartending duties. Will be involved in all Special Events that require food and/or beverage. May be required to fill shifts at other bar operations within MWR. Accountable for cash and inventory for the period working. May be required to perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.
  • Must successfully pass the E-verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
  • May be required to pass pre-employment examinations.
  • A valid State driver's license is required to operate motor vehicles.
  • Must have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience must have been equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Ability to mix and serve a wide variety of beverages combining ingredients such as liquors, soda, water, sugar, bitters and fruit garnishes. Serves liqueur, beer and wine and skillful in mixing exotic beverages, keeps up with current trends and the popularity of new drinks. Skill and ability to set up a bar and to recognize impending shortages of supplies based on the volume of business and ensure their timely replacement. Ability to collect tabs or cash in appropriate amounts, operate a cash register, complete DAR at end or shift and turn in cash receipts. Knowledge and ability to use various computer programs such as; SAP, KRONOS, POS Systems (point-of-sale cash registers) and Microsoft Office. Physical Effort: Must walk or stand for prolonged periods of time. Frequent light to moderate lifting and carrying objects weighing 5 to 15 pounds, pushing and pulling objects weighing 10 to 20 pounds and occasionally lifting up to and over 40 pounds. Uses dolly to transport beer kegs. Working Conditions: Works inside with adequate lighting, heat, and ventilation.
