About the Position: This position is located with the Directorate of Emergency Services - MP Physical Security Branch on Fort Campbell, KY. Fort Campbell lies on the Kentucky/Tennessee border between Hopkinsville, KY & Clarksville, TN about 45 miles NW of Nashville.

Duties

Serve as Security System Administrator (SSA) for the Installation Integrated Commercial Intrusion Detection System (ICIDS) system. Analyze system products to ensure they serve intended purpose and needs of system users. Provide technical guidance to other mechanics and personnel providing service support for the System. Monitor daily system operation and establishes schedules to meet system requirements. Install, maintain, trouble-shoot, adjust, repair all Intrusion Detection Systems and the Closed Circuit TV (CCTV) and other security equipment and components. Perform administrative duties on the security console as described in the ICIDS manual, system commercial manuals, security policies and guidelines, and applicable Government regulations.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
  • This position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Electronics Mechanic without more than normal supervision. Work of the position includes the following duties: I have the ability to perform common duties relative to the deployment, maintenance, modification and expansion of the Intrusion Detection System, and the Closed Circuit TV (CCTV) and their associated electric/electronic devices and components. I am skilled in 1) installing, maintaining and repairing a variety of complex electronic/communication equipment; and 2) operating a variety of electronic test equipment to perform testing operations. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element)Ability To Use Hand and Power Tools - ElectronicsIngenuity (Ability To Suggest and Apply New Methods)Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.Theory of ElectronicsTrouble shooting (Electronic Equipment)Use of Test Equipment: Electronics Physical Effort: Some work may require walking or standing in conjunction with travel among a wide range of remote sites on the installation. Work may also require the occasional, assisted relocation of security system components weighing up to 50 pounds. May require frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and crouching. Climbing ladders may be required to reach some components. Some work may require the use of magnifying lenses, eye loops, and microscopes to accomplish repairs on miniature components. Working Conditions: The normal work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated. The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions and the possibility of electric shock; burns from electrical or RF energy, and cuts and bruises.
