Duties

You will assemble, erect, inspect, maintain, repair, and remove/tear down antennas (and associated radomes/covers) supported from aluminum and steel structures to a height of 200 feet. You will perform routine preventive and emergent corrective maintenance on antennas, supporting structures, and associated transmission line systems. You will keep up-to date files and records on assigned antennas and associated systems. You will troubleshoot antenna systems and transmission lines to locate and correct problems utilizing a variety of electronic test equipment. You will perform cable splicing on various types of coaxial cables, splices hemp and wire rope cable. Install, lay or string various types of transmission lines, coaxial cable, or open wire. You will read, understand and interpret blueprints and antenna instruction/technical manuals, and make minor mathematical calculations related to the trade.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • Occasionally handles weight in excess of 100 pounds and continually reaches, bends, stoops, pushes, and pulls while performing assigned duties.
  • You may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: the ability to perform the most difficult and complex tasks including assemble, erect, inspect, maintain, repair, and remove/tear down antennas (and associated radomes/covers) supported from aluminum and steel structures to a height of 200 feet.
