This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

Install, perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair single and three phase electrical systems and associated equipment. Test circuits and equipment by use of voltmeter, amp meter, wattmeter, megger and ohmmeter. Measure, cut, thread, bend, assemble and install conduits. Apply local codes, building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and engineering diagrams.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position has a requirement to lift to 40 lbs.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Qualifications

Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs may be authorized. Recruitment and relocation incentives may be authorized. Student loan repayment may be authorized. Salary negotiations for those candidates who are new to Federal service may be authorized. Credit for Prior Non-Federal Work Experience and Certain Military Service for Determining Annual Leave Accrual Rate may be authorized. Who May Apply: US Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below. Your application will be further evaluated to determine if you meet the best qualified cut-off for referral to the selecting official. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Electrician (MVO) without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common installing, modifying and repairing new and existing electrical circuits. I can operate a service truck/utility vehicle. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Moderately heavy physical effort is exerted. Works aloft, at ground level, in ground trenches and manholes, on ladders, scaffolding, platforms, and other hard-to-reach places. Work requires bending, stooping, and standing for long periods. Coordination of eyes, hands, legs, and body is needed in installing, repairing, and testing electrical equipment in confined spaces. Frequently lifts, carries, and sets up tools, equipment, and parts that weigh up to 40 pounds. Occasionally lifts and carries with assistance objects that weigh more than 40 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside and outside. Incumbent is exposed to extreme weather conditions and high noise levels. Occasionally exposed to possible injury from falling, electrical shock, and burns. Frequently exposed to strains from awkward positions, and cuts and bruises.
