This position is located on Anaconda Forest Service Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center.
The incumbent of this position provides leadership and guidance to students in a group living environment and provides practical counseling to students.

Duties
Plan and conduct program that supports and contributes to the social, educational, and career development objectives of those involved in the program.
Perform and process work assignments utilizing various Job Corps related databases and software.
Ensure that actions taken in dealing with students are in accordance with rules and regulations governing the operation of the Job Corps Program and the Residential Living Program.
Serves as Dormitory Manager.
Supervisory Duties (25% or more of the time).
Requirements

- Successful completion of one-year probationary period, unless previously served.

- Subject to one year supervisory/managerial probationary period unless prior service is creditable. New USDA supervisors must successfully complete all components of the required training program before the end of their probationary period.
- This is a Test Designated Position. You will be tested for illegal drugs prior to appointment and randomly thereafter. Appointment is conditional on negative results. This announcement constitutes 30 days advance notice.
- Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license.
- May require possessing and maintaining a valid commercial driver's license.
Qualifications

Specialized Experience Requirement:
GS-09: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-8); there is no substitution of education for specialized experience at this grade level.
In service applicants can qualify with at least one year at either the next lower grade level (GS-8), or the second lower grade level (GS-7). There are no GS-8 positions in the normal line of progression in the Job Corps organization; one year of specialized experience at the second lower grade level (GS-7) will be creditable for in service applicants. For outside applicants, one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-8) is required.
Examples of specialized experience are the majority of the following: Working in a behavior management program where the primary responsibility involved guiding and counseling students; conducting regular meetings with staff to explain group living disciplinary policies and procedures; assisting higher level employees with maintaining discipline in a group living environment.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
