This position is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Mid-Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6), Salem VA Healthcare System, Salem, Virginia, assigned to Social Work Service and serves as the Program Support Assistant to the Caregiver Support Program. The primary duties of the Program Support Assistant are administrative support and program development, to assist with data collection, analysis of trends, and implementation of best practices. .
Duties
Serves as the first point of contact and subject matter expert regarding questions about the program, coordination of referrals, building community partnerships, caregiver utilization, data reporting, and any other administrative support tasks required to support the program at the facility level.
Monitor and evaluate caregiver activities (utilization of referrals/resources, trainings, appointments with the Veteran, caregiver strain, etc.), assessments, enrollment processes, and makes recommendations for improvements for the Caregiver Support Program.
Provide education and consultation to community and VA providers about the program and the MISSION Act.
Locate, organize, develop and report on all data for performance measures and reports this data to the care team weekly, and to the Caregiver Support Coordinators in completing required administrative tasks such as quarterly reports which are presented to the Medical Center Leadership, VISN Leadership and/or VA Central Office.
Enter pertinent data into an automated tracking system and maintains program[1]specific data in automated systems to track suspense's on items such as project milestones, progress reports, accomplishments, compliance strategies, etc.
Perform periodic reviews of clinical charts to ensure completion of necessary documentation in accordance with accrediting institutions.
Scan and upload documents into CARMA, and files documents. Creates and maintains respective Program Manuals to assist Caregiver Support Coordinators staff in the implementation of VACO directives, policies and procedures and accompanying databases.
Receive/screen and manage as all incoming and outgoing documents, publications, directives and correspondence, determining appropriate action and/or response with minimal direction.
Prepare materials for trainings, presentations, and "National Family Caregiver Month" information tables, and Caregiver Support Advisory Council meetings.
Track quarterly Bene-Travel cost, track all PCAFC quarterly visits, and maintain record of all associated reimbursement costs.
Assist in preparing yearly funding requests. Assist in coordinating TDA requests with the National CSP Program Analyst and the assigned CSP staff.
Work Schedule: 7:45 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 02/13/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-06) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: using a computer to analyze or process incoming forms, records, or other documents; determine when new procedures are needed, periodic reviews of clinical charts to ensure completion of necessary documentation , fact find and provide analysis of issues in accordance with accepted office policies and organizational concepts, preparing yearly funding requests, maintain record of all associated reimbursement costs, Enters pertinent data into an automated tracking system and maintain program specific data.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary and is performed by sitting, standing, bending, and stooping. The employee is required to obtain records from files, and carry files, manuals, and other light objects. Occasional travel is required to provide support at conferences, workgroups, programs or meetings
