This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is located US ARMY AVIATION AND MISSILE COMMAND USATA, USA TMDE SPT REGION WEST, OFFICE OF THE DIRECTOR, DUGWAY PROVING GROUND.

Duties

Prepares calibration reports for customer use, providing specific information such as assigned values, corrections factors, and measurement uncertainty for instruments being calibrated. Implements, adapts, modifies and occasionally develops technical procedures required by changing user or equipment requirements. Assists and advises users in the instrument application, measurement accuracy, and recommended calibration requirements in support of their mission. Interfaces with user, manufacturer, and engineers as necessary to clarify questionable areas concerning the use and accuracy of instruments or nonstandard TMDE. Selects, applies, and interprets electronic principles and practices to collect, reduce, display, and analyze calibration data for a wide variety of complex general and special purpose test measurement diagnostic equipment. Identifies and documents errors in existing procedures and provides information used for the development of technical documents used for calibration and certification.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) PRECISION MEASUREMENT EQUIPMENT CALIBRATOR ~ without more than normal supervision. Perform common Precision Measurement Equipment Calibrator tasks including calibration and repair operations on precision measurement equipment; interpreting technical procedures and schematics and adapt them to calibration assignments; applying troubleshooting techniques to diagnose and repair test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Demands: The work may require long periods of standing or sitting along with some walking or bending. Requires frequent lifting, carrying, and handling of items weighing up to 40 pounds with occasional requirements to lift items in excess of 50 pounds. Working Conditions: The work is performed in laboratories and user facilities where technicians are exposed to the hazards of high voltage, high pressure, high and low temperatures, chemicals and radiation. Calibrators must comply with all safety regulations applicable to the calibration mission.
