About the Position: Performs duties as an Audio Visual Equipment Technician, providing audio visual (AV) and Video Teleconference (VTC) support for live events in the Command and General Staff College (CGSC) auditorium facilities.
Duties
Organizes functions of high-end audio systems and video equipment to facilitate the operations of four large auditoriums.
Develops/implements strategies for maintaining consistent operation of equipment needed to support simultaneous transmission of video, audio, and computer images to multiple destinations.
Coordinates the management of theatrical lighting systems to enhance auditorium performances.
Provides support to presentations including conferences, lectures, speeches, guest speakers, symposia, discussion panels, military and civilian ceremonies, and visiting entertainment performances.
Operates, installs, and maintains a variety of equipment to include laptop/desktop computers, computer/video projection equipment, wireless/wired microphones, audio amplifiers, audio mixing consoles, audio speakers and monitors, and video cameras.
Explains audio visual (AV) equipment, teleconferencing, and video teleconference (VTC) equipment operations to event personnel.
Establishes contact with the Video Network Operations Center in the event of a classified briefing/ secure video teleconference (SVTC) or a desired broadcast.
Maintains up-to-date working knowledge of video teleconference (VTC) and secure video teleconference (SVTC) capabilities, operations and production techniques.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- Must obtain and/or maintain a valid driver's license.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) operating and installing audiovisual (AV) equipment for use during conferences; (2) testing and troubleshooting issues with video teleconference (VTC) presentations; and (3) identifying and advising on customer visual information goals and objectives. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: I have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as Communications, Audio Engineer or Performance Studies. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
