About the Position: This is a Equipment Specialist, GS-1670-11, position under the supervision of the Soldier & Chem Bio, Readiness & Sustainment Directorate, Product Support Integration Directorate (PSID).
This position is a TERM Not to Exceed 13 months position. It is time limited and may be extended up to a maximum of eight years.
Duties
Provides on-site technical assistance for assigned systems in the Continental United States (CONUS) and Outside the Continental United States
(OCONUS).
Identify causes of existing/potential maintenance problems and recommends appropriate corrective action or preventative measures using
maintenance policies/procedures during the development and execution of equipment training exercise/programs.
Develops maintenance or repair techniques for a broad range of Chemical Biological Radiological Explosive (CBRNE) equipment.
Maintains a working relationship with equipment manufactures to stay abreast of the new and emerging technologies and equipment.
Reviews and recommends changes to training policy, procedure, and guidance and conducts classroom, field exercises, and hands-on training
for various personnel.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position may require the incumbent to travel Outside the Continental United States (OCONUS).
- Incumbent may be required to stand for long periods of time, bend, stoop, crouch, stretch or reach while demonstrating various techniques.
- Training locations may be in classroom settings, in open maintenance bay or shop environments, or outside in field locations under ambient weather conditions ranging from arctic to desert temperatures during snow or rain.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized experience is defined as: contributing to the development of technical or training manuals; and providing guidance for maintenance or operation of Chemical, Biological, Radiological Explosive (CBRNE) equipment, or Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
OR
Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in engineering, industrial arts, property management, or business administration.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as longs as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. The divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
