About the Position: This position is located at Darnall Army Medical Center in Fort Cavazos, Texas.

Duties

Register patient information into the electronic dental record system and make patient appointments. Use office automation equipment such as computers, printers, copiers, and FAX machines and software such as Microsoft Office software. Receive scheduled and walk-in patients, verify their eligibility, review dental record to update medical history, and other required forms. Answer routine questions patient may have regarding access to care or other procedures. Maintain up-to-date locator records, telephone directories, staff directories, clinic floor plans, and similar guides. Compose routine requests, memorandums, and transmittal and acknowledgment letters.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience and/or education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service which includes answering telephone calls in a clinic, scheduling clinic appointments, and maintaining office files.. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education Substitution: Successful completion of 4 years of education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation, or the equivalent. To be creditable, education must have been obtained from an accredited college or university. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts for verification.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. Compute the percentage of the requirements, and the total must be at least 100%. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts for verification.)
