About the Position: This is a Military Technician position with the 88th Readiness Division, Reserve Personnel Action Center (RPAC) Wolverine Hub MI029 located in Southfield, Michigan. Duties

Prepare military correspondence and orders and maintain files. Prepare military personnel actions including evaluation reports, applications for appointment, promotions, individual orders, retirement point cards, or transfers. Provide guidance on administrative and personnel matters such as recruitment, retention, assignment and transfer, Military Occupation Specialty, personnel strength, discharge, retirement, promotion, discipline, or utilization. Provide technical advice on establishment and maintenance of pay accounts ensuring compliance with laws and regulations as well as researching complex pay issues. Assist in developing Standard Operating Procedures ensuring uniform interpretation and application. Research and analyze data identifying trends and report results to management.

  • THIS POSITION REQUIRES ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP AS A SOLDIER IN THE U.S. ARMY RESERVE (USAR).
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires a SECRET security clearance.
  • The duties of this position may require the incumbent to work evenings, nights, holidays, and/or weekends to include modification in shifts and/or tour of duty.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes preparing military personnel actions; researching or analyzing pay issues; reviewing incoming regulations; ensuring compliance with rules and regulations; advising on pay and personnel processes. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Administration or Human Resources. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Fundamentals and Operations of Military and Civilian PayManages and Organizes InformationPersonnel Action Processing and RecordkeepingPlanning and Evaluating Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
