THIS IS A NORTH DAKOTA NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This ND National Guard position is for a SUPERVISORY AIRCRAFT PILOT, Position Description Number D061100 and is part of the ND AVIATION, National Guard.
Duties
As a Supervisory Aircraft Pilot, the primary purpose is to manage the Operations and Training Section of the AASF and to perform flight instructor duties. The incumbent supervises 3-12 aircraft light instructors, flight engineers and flight operations specialists.
Directs and coordinates all Flight operations and training activities at the installation and supervises the AASF Flight Operations Section.
Oversees execution of the training program in accordance with the Aircrew Training Manual (ATM) Flight Training Program or aviators and crew members, utilizing single engine.
Sets priorities and prepares schedules for completion of work.
Identifies developmental and training needs of employees and provides or obtains training.
Plans, establishes and updates the standing operating procedures required for the safe and efficient operation of aircraft and transient aircraft.
Instructs and evaluates pilots in operating rotary wing aircraft.
Trains and evaluates pilots in basic or advanced instrument flight procedures characterized by a substantial degree of hazard and using the technique of operating an aircraft through reference to instruments as well as visual reference to the terrain and horizon.
Develops POI's for proper utilization of aviators and aerial observer training requirements.
Requirements
- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the ND National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
- Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
- Applicants who are not currently a member of the ND National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the ND National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- Participation in direct deposition is mandatory.
- You must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
- Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.

QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE
Length of time is not of itself qualifying. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicant must possess a Federal Aviation Administration pilot certificate or military pilot certification.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade which includes: 1) performing or supervising the work procedures involved in navigation, search and rescue operations, and surveillance and reconnaissance; 2) developing plans and policies, monitoring operations, and advising commanders; 3) coordinating with appropriate agencies to ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations and programs; 4) maintaining detailed wartime and peacetime contingency plans and supplements for unit mobility, deployment, strange field operations/ employment, and redeployment.
Education
To receive credit for education, you must provide supporting documentation of proof that you meet the education requirements for this position.
For Army National Guard Second and First Lieutenants must be actively pursuing an under- graduate degree with at least 90 validated credit hours in a specified program. For Captains and above, must have an undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university. A Graduate Degree from an accredited civilian academic college or from an equivalent professional military education school is optimum.
Must have Federal Aviation Administration certifications awarded from accredited civilian aviation programs OR must have aviation certifications from accredited military aviation schools.
