Duties

Serves as a lifeguard for indoor and outdoor pools and works under the direction of the Installation Aquatics Program Manager. Employs safety rules for the protection of the pool guests. Provides maximum pool area surveillance and responds to emergencies. Assists in maintaining pool, and in keeping the area clean and free from any hazards. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
• A one year probationary period may be required.
• Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
• Continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity.
• Requires a Hepatitis B Vaccination within 24-hour period in the case of exposure to infectious disease.
• Must have good/corrective vision.
• Must wear protective equipment and follow environmental safeguards.
• May be assigned to irregular duties or when needed for special recreational events and related requirements.
• Work hours may include weekends, weekdays, holidays and night duty.
• Lifeguards must comply with age 15 years old restrictions of the DOL Child Labors Law (Jan 17, 2006).
• Must have a current health assessment which documents good physical health, and free from communicable disease IAW current Army Policy.
• Satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3 para. 2, to include a Tier 1 background investigation.

Qualifications

Possesses and maintains OR in the process of obtaining the following certifications: Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e., Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS) American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional" CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED) First Aid NOTE TO APPLICANTS: You are in the process of obtaining a certification if you plan on registering for or are already registered for the above-named certification courses. Must obtain certification prior to start of pool season on 19 MAY 2023. Cost of certification may be reimbursed by the organization.
