This National Guard position is for a IT SPECIALIST (NETWORK), Position Description Number D2389000 and is part of the HI 292 CBCS, National Guard.
LOCATION: 292nd Combat Communications Squadron, Hawaii Air National Guard, Kahului, Hawaii
Duties
SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The purpose of this position is to perform a full range of administrative control, technical direction, and oversight for subordinate personnel within the Section. Responsible for analyzing customer requirements and managing the systems administration, optimization, customer support, and maintenance requirements associated with the various local area/wide area networks and/or tactical network (LAN/WAN), wireless systems, and voice systems utilized by the unit's organizations on the base. Manages customer IT requirements to meet operational, training, and readiness missions. Ensures viable training programs are developed for assigned functions.
Coordinates frequency needs with command level spectrum management office to maintain current allocations and obtain new authorizations. Secures operating authority and ensures minimal interference by ANG radio frequency (RF) operations.
Provides technical expertise and oversight, in the installation, administration, optimization, operation, and maintenance of multiple large and enhanced complex networks and communication systems. Working knowledge of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of all information technology services. Oversees installation, configuration, testing, migration, integration, operation and maintenance of IT and communications systems.
Develops and recommends technical solutions to mission and customer requirements.
Manages Commissioning and Acceptance requirements for contractor delivered operating systems and services.
Adheres to management control plan requirements by conducting self-inspection and staff assistance visits. Resolves identified discrepancies.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: If your resume does not include a narrative description of how you meet the GENERAL, SPECIALIZED experiences, and OTHER requirements, you may lose consideration for this position. Ensure that the Questionnaire is completed on Application Manager.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, and/or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 36 months of experience, education, or training that approaches techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls. Experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment. Experience preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies where is involved summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion.
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Major study--computer science, information science, information systems management, mathematics, statistics, operations research, or engineering, or course work that required the development or adaptation of computer programs and systems and provided knowledge equivalent to a major in the computer field.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
1. This position conducts information assurance functions. The incumbent shall comply with the requirements of the certification program and will be required to obtain and maintain certification. Certification requirements are outlined in DOD Instruction 8570.01-M
2. Worldwide mobility (no physical restrictions), wear of military uniform, position requires membership in a compatible military assignment within 292 CBCS.
3. May occasionally be required to travel.
OTHER REQUIREMENT:
The applicant must possess or be able to obtain a Secret clearance.
MILITARY TECHNICIAN COMPATIBILITY POSITION: Prior to placement in this position, the selected applicant must be assigned to an appropriate military position and must meet the definition of a dual status technician in accordance with 32 U S C 709.
NOTES TO CANDIDATES:
a. Situations of inversion of military rank are not permitted, i.e., a military technician may not be militarily senior to his or her full-time supervisor.
b. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses will be granted only after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Hawaii National Guard.
