Duties
Serve as Tech SME on Windows. Initiates, executes, oversees, evaluates projects and advises Management concerning Windows Operating System, on premise and in Census IT Cloud infrastructure strategy, roadmap, architecture, and engineering.
Provides server infrastructure Ops, Maintenance, System Admin, Patch Mgt, Systems Sup. for Windows based systems in multiple environments, integration, collaboration with enterprise virtualization, storage, Linux, and engineering teams.
Implements security requirements, monitors security statuses, and maintains compliance of on premise and Cloud solutions with Federal and Census Bureau security policies.
Communicates with tech/non-tech customers, translating business and non-functional requirements to actionable tech requirements for designing/engineering tech solutions and critical tech engagement services to Census on prem /Cloud customers.

In addition to the basic requirements above, applicants must also demonstrate specialized experience below:
Specialized Experience: For the GS-14, applicant must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 in the Federal service. This position will serve as Branch Chief for the Windows Management Branch within the Computer Services Division. Experience for this position includes: providing server infrastructure operations and maintenance, system administration, patch management and systems support for all aspects of Windows based systems in physical, virtual and cloud server environments as well as the integration/collaboration with enterprise virtualization, storage, Linux operations, and engineering teams; Leading teams for incident resolution responses, root cause analysis and customer notifications; Establishing basic monitoring, event correlation and evaluating performance of all aspects of infrastructure; Managing system security at the Operating System (OS) level; and evaluating new technologies for solving complex IT problems.
There is no education substitute for specialized experience at this grade level.
