Duties
Incumbent serves as the Law Office Manager, and Chief, Legal Operations Officer, for AFC.
Supports the Commanding General and SJA's priorities by ensuring legal personnel are ready; master fundamentals; take care of clients; and deliver creative and innovative legal solutions.
Organizes and manages statistical data, man hours, and workload drivers that form the basis for position development, hiring decisions, resourcing, and submissions to the Program and Budget Advisory Committee (PBAC).
Incumbent provides comprehensive management of all budgetary resources.
Incumbent manages all aspects of training and continuing legal education, certification, administration, and readiness of personnel serving in a legal office.
Incumbent provides force management subject matter expertise by analyzing and monitoring legal manpower requirements and current and projected authorizations.
Incumbent assesses legal organization knowledge and performance and designs and leads development of solutions to knowledge gaps.
Incumbent performs information management and systems integration, including protection of government information and attorney-client privileged information and attorney work product.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Secret security clearance required.
- Business travel (TDY) required up to 5% of the time.
- The How the Army Runs Course must be completed within 24 months of appointment.
- The Knowledge Management Course must be completed within 36 months of appointment.
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- The incumbent of this position must become a Notary Public in the State of Texas. All fees associated with the requirements to obtain a Notary Public will be paid for by the organization.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Assisting with comprehensive research, policy development, and policy writing; 2) Developing and implementing contracts for special programs and services; 3) Assisting in managing resources and implementing safeguards to secure sensitive information; 4) Managing financial and other resources supporting office operations; 5) Managing administrative functions such as monitoring training, evaluating caseload, and oversight of personnel and logistical requirements. AND 6) Performing various administrative functions such as preparing documents, administering automated systems, and managing daily operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
