About the Position: This is a Military Technician position with the 85th United States Army Reserve Support Command 1st Battalion, 347th Regiment, 188th Infantry Brigade located at the Fort Gillem Army Installation in Clayton, Georgia. This position requires an active membership as a Soldier in the Army Reserve before a start date can be set. Duties

Serve as a Staff Administrative Specialist for an Army Reserve Brigade, Group, Battalion, or comparable activity. Perform one or more of the following assignments: manage unit and individual training; manage unit personnel and medical readiness programs; manage unit supply and logistics programs and/or manage various types of financial management programs. Serve as the military personnel technical expert for the unit. Coordinate, monitor and evaluate significant projects and activities concerning Headquarters and Command-wide administrative issues. Advise leadership and other staff regarding administrative matters. Review military, administrative and personnel related correspondence to make determination on adequacy prior to submission to higher headquarters. Provide training and technical guidance for administrative activities and personnel within the organization. Coordinate resources for assigned programs and training events. Evaluate administrative issues to recommend actions or develop policy to improve administrative operations. Utilize various automation programs concerning information on readiness that impacts individual service members and the units overall mission or deployment readiness status.

  • THIS POSITION REQUIRES ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP AS A SOLDIER IN THE U.S. ARMY RESERVE (USAR).
  • The duties of this position may require the incumbent to work evenings, nights, holidays, and/or weekends to include modification in shifts and/or tour of duty.

Current Department of Army Civilian Employees In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes researching data for evaluations of programs/operations; Providing guidance to staff on organizational requirements; Coordinating projects and/or special programs for the organization; and Utilizing office automation systems (i.e., spreadsheets, word processing, databases) on a variety of work products. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B, or J.D., if related, in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as Organizational Management and Leadership, Public Administration, Business Administration, and Management. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
