About the Position: This position is located in the Madigan Army Medical Center's Warrior Transition Battalion, located on Joint Base Lewis-McChord, in Tacoma, Washington.
Duties
Operate a variety of gasoline/diesel vehicles for the Warrior Transition Battalion (WTB) ranging from sedans, vans, mini-buses, pick-up trucks, flat beds and box trucks.
Transport passengers to and from medical appointments.
Assist passengers who may require the use of wheelchairs, crutches, canes, or other devices.
Assure that cargo is properly loaded, secured and that the vehicle is not loaded beyond capacity.
Complete trip tickets and preventive maintenance service records. fills out driver’s accident reports in case of accident.
Fill out driver’s accident reports in case of accident.
Perform driver’s maintenance in accordance with established rules and regulations.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination.
- This position is subject to a drug test pre-employment screening, and random testing.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Motor Vehicle Operator without more than normal supervision. I am able to perform common Motor Vehicle Operator tasks including operating gasoline powered vehicles such as a van or car in order to transport passengers; and performing minor maintenance on vehicles. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Operating vehicles involves moderate physical effort in manipulating hand and foot controls while driving, turning, starting, and stopping. Effort also required assisting in loading/unloading passengers and cargo for the vehicles. Physical effort is used in assisting patients in and out of vehicles who are using canes, crutches, wheelchairs, etc.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Drives in all types of weather and traffic. Is exposed to noise and exhaust fumes. Is exposed to accidents/injury while driving, loading, and unloading vehicles. Encounters greasy and grimy conditions in maintenance of vehicles. Work schedule is subject to changing shifts. Passengers are considered high risk.
