Duties
In this role, you will:
Assist in preparing and measuring radioactive sources for use as standards in applications in medicine, nuclear security, nuclear energy, and fundamental research.
Prepare and maintain laboratories for routine work associated with preparation of radioactive standards.
Prepare non-radioactive solutions for use in development of standards.
Assist in recording and analysis of test data, preparation of test reports.
Assist in operating laboratory equipment, including routine measurements for instrument QA/QC.

Qualifications
To qualify, applicant must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-08 level (or ZT-II at NIST). Specialized experience is defined as:
Knowledge of basic statistics (calculate mean, standard deviation, least squares fitting, ANOVA analysis and other statistical tests).
Experience in analysis of laboratory data.
Experience handling chemicals in a laboratory environment.
OR
Master's degree in a field of study that is directly related to the work of the position.
OR
Two full years of graduate education (36 semester hours) in a field of study that is directly related to the work of the position.
OR
An equivalent combination of specialized experience and graduate education beyond the first 1 1/2 years (27 semester hours) of progressive graduate study. Graduate education must be in a field of study that is directly related to the work of the position.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done. We will credit all qualifying volunteer experience in your application.
