You will serve as a PIPEFITTER in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT of NAV FACILITIES ENGINEERING COMMAND SE. Duties

You will install, modify, repair new/existing high-pressure piping systems and equipment; steam-heating, steam generation, and hydraulic systems, steam generators, flash and expansion tanks, condensate, vacuum, circulating pumps, and radiators. You will remove, clean, replace, pack, and seal defective parts of utility, supply, and disposal systems such as traps, sections of broken tile pipe, sewer lines, and leaking drains. You will interpret and apply building plans, blueprints, and sketches to plan and layout the routing, placement, pitch, elevation, pressure reduction, expansion, and operation of different piping systems and equipment. You will operate hand and power tools (e.g., hydraulic benders, presses, power saws, drills, threaders, cutters) to install or repair piping systems. You will trace system malfunctions and replace fixtures such as safety devices, heating elements, valves, strainers, coils, and other related minor controls.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) install various types of hand controlled and automatic controlled valves, traps, and thermostatic instruments. 2) Install, maintain and repair of fitting, appliances, machinery, and fixtures. (e.g. valves, faucets, hose bibs, dishwashers, garbage disposals, water softeners, filtration devices, steam converters, etc. 3) install pipes with necessary hangers, brackets, and other necessary support to ensure proper pitch and elevation of pipes.
