You will serve as a Crane Operator (Mobile/Amphibious) in the Utility Boat Branch of MCAS CHERRY POINT.

Duties

You will position the Self-Propelled Crane and Truck Mounted Crane in the best position to load and unload equipment onto the deck of boats in close proximity to antennas, antenna mounts and other projections on or near the boat. You will lift small navy boats at or near the cranes capacity, holding the load until it can be stabilized allowing the hull work to be done safely. You will have to make careful decisions involving the stability of the pontoons and the effect digging will have on his/her stability to keep from sinking the crane or turning it over. You will use the Mobile/Amphibious Boom Crane to rehabilitate, repair, disassemble and construct targets in areas accessible only by this or a similar crane, working with an inexperienced target construction crew.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current CDL - Class A license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Crane Operator license.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision operating an Amphibious Crane in a Marsh environment possessing an extremely unstable surface.
