This position is located at the Clement J Zablocki Veterans Hospital, 5000 W National Ave, Milwaukee, Wisconsin within the VISN 12 Great Lakes Finance Service (GLFS) and performs a variety of routine, recurring clerical work. The work schedule is intermittent (no set work schedule). This position requires work on irregular Day Tours, Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm. There are no benefits with this position.

Duties

This position is located at the Clement J Zablocki Veterans Hospital, 5000 W National Ave, Milwaukee, Wisconsin within the VISN 12 Great Lakes Finance Service (GFLS) and performs a variety of routine, recurring clerical work. Major Duties: Refers telephone callers and visitors to appropriate staff or office. Answers routine, non-technical requests for information. Takes and delivers messages for staff members who are unavailable. Routes and distributes mail to appropriate individuals. Opens and reads mail that is undesignated and determines proper routing by subject matter. Delivers mail to other offices. Sets up and maintains a variety of files involving numerous subject headings and subheadings. Maintains, files, purges, and disposes of office records/files in accordance with established regulations and procedures. Locates items in files and searches for missing or incorrectly filed items. Records and files information on specific cases, current projects, and/or studies for personnel within the office. Reproduces and assembles copies of a variety of correspondence. Utilizes office copy and fax machines. Monitors stock levels of a variety of office supplies. Orders common supplies, as necessary, and orders specific supplies requested by the staff. Uses word processing and spreadsheet software to prepare letters, reports, memoranda, etc. Transmits and receives documents and messages electronically via computer. Performs other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Intermittent (no set work schedule). This position requires work on irregular tours, Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 02/20/2024. GRADE REQUIREMENTS: To qualify for this position at the GS-3 level, you must meet the following: Experience: Must have at least six months of clerical, office, or other work that indicates the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. Experience includes, but is not limited to: Knowledge of common clerical practices and procedures; Knowledge of office functions, such as filing, maintain correspondence, receive telephone calls, and/or process incoming mail; Knowledge of basic office automation software functions; and Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for experience. You must have successfully completed one full year above high school in any field. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours. (Transcripts Required) OR, Combination: Applicants may combine education and experience. You must have equivalent combinations of experience and education. (Transcripts Required) ClericalCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical)Planning and Evaluating Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
